Bloomberg is reporting that General Motors has taken back the world's largest automaker crown. GM outsold Toyota through the first six months of 2011. A 2.26 million vehicle worldwide voluntary recall has been announced by Honda. 1.5 million of the vehicles reside in the United States. The recall is in regards to the automatic transmission software for the 2005-10 Accord (four cylinder), 2007-10 CR-V and 2005-08 Element. The transmissions secondary shaft can become damaged if quick shifts are made between Reverse, Neutral and Drive, as a driver might due to rock free from snow or mud in a stuck vehicle.

Tesla has become rather friendly with Toyota over the last few years. According to the latest reports, the two automakers seem to be ready to take their relationship to the next level. The Saab saga continues. According to Reuters, in an attempt to drum up funds to pay its white-collar workers, the Swedish automaker has announced tha tthe company is issuing more shares. Around five million of the new shares have been commited to be purchased by GEM Global Yield Fund, an investment company, giving it a 17 percent stake in Saab. During the Management Briefing Sessions this week in Traverse City, MI, Sergio Marchionne hinted at the possibility of within the coming years of stepping down from the Chrysler CEO position.
